JYP has acquired additional firepower for next season’s offense. The Jyväskylä club has signed a one-year contract with forward Reece Newkirk, 25.
– Newkirk is a skilled forward who brings the desired speed and playmaking ability to our team’s offense, JYP’s sports director Simo Mälkiä says in the club’s press release.
In his previous career, Newkirk has played in North America. This season in the AHL, he recorded 0+4 points in 15 games and in the ECHL, he had 19+32=51 points in 52 games.
– I am an offensive player who likes to find my teammates in scoring areas. I am also reliable in my own zone and will do whatever it takes for my teammates, Newkirk commented on his strengths.
