The long-time captain of Jukurit Jesper Piitulainen is surprisingly involved as the team faces Kiekko-Espoo on Tuesday. Piitulainen hinted after the last game that he is not very excited about playing the final round match in Espoo.

Last Friday, Jukurit played in Kouvola with an unusual lineup due to injuries and player sales. Young players who would not have made it to the club’s A-juniors playoff team were included.

– Hopefully, it was a nice moment for the audience. Otherwise, it was probably quite unpleasant to watch that clapping. But as I said, let’s forget these last weeks. This has nothing to do with professional ice hockey. However, it does not take away the big picture and what has happened along the way, Piitulainen commented on MTV after the game.

Last Saturday, Piitulainen also stated that he might not have the energy for the trip to Espoo: “Don’t be surprised if there’s a sore groin.” In the end, however, the veteran is included in Jukurit’s second line together with Topias Hynninen and Viljam Sandvik.

Jukurit is fighting for league positions 14–15, one point ahead of Kärpät. The final round of the regular season also marks the end of Piitulainen’s ten-year phase in his career: he will not continue with Jukurit next season.
