The bronze medal team of the Lions’ forwards duo was injured in the NHL.
There was disappointing news from the NHL regarding Finnish players.
Los Angeles Kings’ Finnish forward Joel Armia was injured in a game against the Edmonton Oilers and had to leave the game due to an upper body injury. He played less than five minutes in the match. There is no further information yet on the severity of Armia’s injury.
Also, Colorado Avalanche’s Finnish forward Joel Kiviranta had to leave the game against the Minnesota Wild in the second period after receiving a hard hit from Zach Bogosian. Head coach Jared Bednar stated after the game that more information about Kiviranta’s situation will be available tomorrow.
Armia has played 53 games this season with a total of 10+10=20 points, while Kiviranta has played 30 games with 2+5 points. Armia suffered a brief injury in January, while Kiviranta has been sidelined for longer on two occasions this season.
Both forwards were recently part of the Lions team that won Olympic bronze. Armia was Finland’s top scorer in the tournament, with 3+5 points in six games. Kiviranta was in the lineup for five games and scored two goals.
