The Athletic: A new clue about Eeli Tolvanen has been received
Eeli Tolvanen‘s NHL future is still open, and the Finnish winger has not yet found a new team in free agency. However, his name has come up again in trade discussions.
The Athletic reporter Vincent Mercogliano reports that the New York Rangers have been interested in exploring options for wingers available on the free market. The focus of the inquiry was on Anthony Mantha and Tolvanen.
– The Rangers inquired about the situations of wingers Mantha and Tolvanen available on the free market, according to information received from the league. However, the acquisition of Oliver Bjorkstrand may have cooled their interest. Additionally, the Rangers want to make short-term contracts with an annual salary of around 3–4 million dollars, which may complicate potential new negotiations, Mercogliano says.
The Rangers’ options from the free market decreased when the New Jersey Devils signed Mantha to a two-year contract last week. The average annual salary of the contract is 4.75 million dollars.
Tolvanen appeared in 76 NHL regular-season games last season and recorded 12+25=36 points. The former first-round draft pick has played a total of 423 games in the NHL regular season during his career.
