The Florida Panthers have suffered a significant setback.

On Saturday morning, Florida forward Brad Marchand announced on social media that he underwent surgery to treat his lower body injury.

According to NHL reporter George Richards, Marchand suffered from a hip injury. The surgery performed before the start of the season may keep Marchand out of games for two months. The power forward will not be in playing condition at least at the beginning of the regular season.

Last season, the 38-year-old Marchand scored 27 goals and 54 points in 52 games.
