Tappara was left licking its wounds – Jarmo Kekäläinen’s NHL draft made its choice
The Swedish forward Marcus Karlberg, targeted by Tappara, continues his career in his home country. According to Expressen, the winger, who has played four seasons in the SHL, will move to Sweden’s second-highest league next season.
Karlberg is joining MoDo, which plays in HockeyAllsvenskan. The team is coached by his father, former Elitserien points leader Mikael Karlberg.
According to the Swedish newspaper, AIK was also interested in Karlberg alongside Tappara.
The 173 cm tall Karlberg was drafted into the NHL by Jarmo Kekäläinen and the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 3rd round in 2018. Especially two seasons ago was effective for the forward, as he scored 13+11=24 points in 51 SHL games while playing for Leksand.
In the recently concluded season, Karlberg recorded 4+2=6 points in 44 games.
