Swedish player leaves the NHL – signs a long-term contract with a new team

Swedish forward Nils Åman, who has represented the Vancouver Canucks for the last four seasons, is leaving North America and returning to his home country’s rinks. He has signed a three-year contract with SHL club Djurgården.
Åman, 26, played 132 NHL regular season games (8+21=29) and five playoff games during his four seasons in Vancouver. In the AHL, he played 123 games with the Abbotsford Canucks (25+70=95).
Last season, Åman played only two NHL games. In the minors, he set a new personal season record with 41 points (6+35=41) in 55 games.
Before his years in North America, Åman represented Leksand in the SHL. He also represented Sweden in the 2022 World Championships.
