Surprising twist: Jarmo Kekäläinen is preparing a mega deal behind the scenes in the NHL!
The Buffalo Sabres’ Finnish GM Jarmo Kekäläinen is working behind the scenes on a significant contract extension.
According to Sportsnet reporter Nick Kypreos, there is belief in the NHL that Kekäläinen is ready to meet Alex Tuch’s salary demands of around 10 million dollars.
29-year-old Tuch is currently playing his last contract season and is earning 4.7 million dollars this season. According to the Sabres’ former GM Kevyn Adams, previous contract extension negotiations between the Sabres and Tuch fell through due to the forward’s high salary request.
Adams stated in December that Tuch was asking for a more lucrative deal than the Los Angeles Kings’ Adrian Kempe‘s new extension, which guaranteed the Swede over 10.6 million dollars per season.
Tuch has been one of the Sabres’ top players for several seasons now. This season, the power forward has recorded 40 points in 46 games with 17 goals and 23 assists.
