St. Louis Blues’ star defenseman Colton Parayko is currently expected to remain with the team beyond the trade deadline.

NHL reporter Pierre LeBrun stated on TSN’s TradeCentre broadcast that the Canadian Olympic defenseman does not intend to waive the trade clause in his contract on Friday.

On Thursday, a major trade rumor circulated around Parayko as the Buffalo Sabres attempted to acquire him. Sabres GM Jarmo Kekäläinen was reported to have reached an agreement with the St. Louis Blues regarding a player trade, but the deal ultimately fell through when Parayko exercised his trade clause to block the move.

ESPN’s reporter Kevin Weekes later mentioned on Thursday that the defenseman might accept a trade to a limited number of teams. According to Weekes, Parayko would be open to considering a deal to the Anaheim Ducks or Los Angeles Kings. However, this potential trade can now be considered dead.

The NHL trade deadline closes on Friday at 10 PM Finnish time.
