Rasmus Ristolainen‘s time with the Philadelphia Flyers NHL team may be coming to an end, writes insider reporter Frank Seravalli.

According to Seravalli’s recent information, the Flyers do not intend to offer a contract extension to the Finnish defender who is playing his final contract season.

The reporter shared information based on his sources in a weekly blog post on Casino.org. Ristolainen’s current contract, which pays him an annual salary of $5.1 million, expires after this season.

– The Flyers have no plans to make Ristolainen a contract extension offer, Seravalli wrote.

The 31-year-old Ristolainen has been a regular name in the NHL trade market for several seasons. The Flyers, who are building their future on young players, may now accelerate Ristolainen’s departure timeline due to their dismal start to the season.

Strong performances last season in the Olympics and NHL playoffs have made Ristolainen an even more attractive addition for other teams.

Seravalli assesses Ristolainen to be the Flyers’ most important trade asset as the spring trade deadline approaches.

– Perhaps even sooner if the Flyers’ struggles continue, Seravalli estimates.

The Flyers’ start to the season has been bleak. The team has lost all seven of its first games. This is the worst start record in the team’s history.

Ristolainen’s value in the eyes of other teams has decreased in recent years due to his ongoing injuries. Ristolainen’s name is also currently on the injured list. The Turku native, who was hit by a puck on his hand, has been sidelined from the lineup for four games.
