Supplier: Patrik Laine is making waves in the NHL – this team is following!
NHL reporter David Pagnotta revealed in the Hello Hockey podcast that the Los Angeles Kings are one of the teams keeping an eye on Patrik Laine. The Finnish winger’s contract with the Montreal Canadiens expires at the end of this season, making him an unrestricted free agent next summer.
Laine’s collaboration with Montreal seems to be coming to an end, and a contract extension is not considered likely.
According to Pagnotta, several NHL teams have shown interest in the Finn, particularly teams that are looking for more scoring power and reinforcement for their power play.
Pagnotta also assesses Laine’s future salary level, which will clearly be lower than his previous contracts.
– Is it 2.5 million dollars? Four million? Five million? I don’t know where it will land, Pagnotta says.
– But in any case, some teams are interested in him.
The Kings’ interest in Laine is not a new thing. The team was pursuing him at the trade deadline in March, which may now facilitate negotiations in the summer.
Although Laine has only played five games this season due to injury, Pagnotta emphasizes that the player’s fitness is not an obstacle to potential moves. The Finnish forward is reported to be fully healthy and ready for a new challenge.
