Suomalaisjärkäle was awarded – NHL contract in hand!

The Seattle Kraken have signed a one-year contract with Finnish defenseman Ville Ottavainen.
The contract covers the 2026–27 season. It is a two-way contract worth 850,000 dollars.
Last season, Ottavainen played for the Kraken’s AHL affiliate, the Coachella Valley Firebirds. He appeared in 53 regular season games and recorded 3+14 points.
Drafted in the fourth round of the 2021 NHL Draft, Ottavainen has played a total of four seasons in the AHL.
The 196-centimeter defenseman has also been seen in the NHL. So far, he has one game to his name, which came in the 2024–25 season.
