Summer blockbuster trade – Patrick Kane made his decision
Patrick Kane is returning to the Chicago Blackhawks. The NHL team announced on Thursday that it has signed the star forward to a two-year contract.
Kane, who will turn 38 in November, will earn eight million dollars per season during his new contract.
The American forward played the last three seasons with the Detroit Red Wings but is now moving back to the team where he spent the first 16 seasons of his NHL career. Last season, Kane recorded 57 points (16+41) in 67 regular-season games with Detroit.
The Chicago Blackhawks selected Kane as the first overall pick in the 2007 NHL Draft. He represented the team until 2023 and won three Stanley Cup championships during that time.
In the 2015–2016 season, Kane won the NHL scoring title and was also named the league’s Most Valuable Player.
During his time with the Blackhawks, Kane played a total of 1,162 regular-season games and collected 1,225 points (446+779). He is the second-highest scorer in the franchise’s history.
