Stunning tricks from Bedard and Celebrini in the NHL – this hasn’t been seen in 80 years!
The brightest diamonds of the new generation in the NHL, Connor Bedard, 20, and Macklin Celebrini, 19, dazzled with hat tricks last night.
Bedard’s Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Calgary Flames at home with a score of 5–2, while the San Jose Sharks, led by Celebrini, secured a 3–2 overtime victory against the Utah Mammoth.
According to OptaStats, this was only the second time in NHL history that two players aged 20 or younger scored hat tricks on the same day. The previous occurrence was achieved by Jack Hamilton and Bud Poile on February 19, 1944.
The young superstars of the NHL have started their season in a dominant fashion. Celebrini is currently second in the NHL scoring race with 13+17=30 points. Bedard, on the other hand, is fourth with 13+16=29 points.
