Source: Valtteri Puustinen’s new team is clear!
Finnish forward Valtteri Puustinen returns to Europe next season after spending five seasons in North America. According to Expressen, Puustinen will move to the Swedish SHL to join Luleå for the upcoming season.
Puustinen, 26, has not played any games in the NHL this season. He started his season with the Pittsburgh Penguins’ AHL affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, playing 35 games with 7+19=26 points. The Penguins traded Puustinen to the Colorado Avalanche in January, where he has played 23 games in the AHL with the Colorado Eagles, recording 5+9=14 points.
Puustinen is a 7th round draft pick of Pittsburgh from 2019. He has played 66 NHL games with 7+17=24 points for Pittsburgh. In the AHL, Puustinen has played 275 games (77+112=189).
In Europe, Puustinen was last seen during the 2020-21 season with HPK, where he played three seasons in the Liiga. Puustinen also won the Finnish championship with HPK in the spring of 2019.
Puustinen has represented Finland in two World Championships, winning a silver medal once. With the U20 national team, he has won the world championship.
