Source: Sebastian Aho’s Carolina made an offer for the NHL superstar!
Defending Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes is targeting one of the biggest fish in the NHL’s summer trade market.
According to insider Frank Seravalli, the Hurricanes have made an offer to the Winnipeg Jets for star goaltender Connor Hellebuyck.
– According to my sources, the Hurricanes made an offer for three-time Vezina winner Hellebuyck earlier this week.
– The offer includes a first-round draft pick and restricted free agent Aleksandr Nikishin, 24, who scored 11 goals in his rookie season and was selected to the rookie All-Star team alongside Matthew Schaefer, Seravalli reports.
However, according to Seravalli, Carolina’s offer is unlikely to be enough to convince the Jets to part with their star goaltender. Winnipeg is believed to also want goaltender Brandon Bussi, who shone in the Stanley Cup Finals, before negotiations can move forward.
The 33-year-old Hellebuyck is among the best goaltenders in the NHL, and his contract, which carries an annual salary of $8.5 million, runs through the summer of 2031.
Hellebuyck is also attracting interest elsewhere. According to several insider sources, the Florida Panthers have also made an offer to the Jets for the star goaltender. However, completing the trade would likely require parting with Anton Lundell.
As far as is known, the Panthers are not currently willing to do that.
