Source: Over 700 NHL games veteran defenseman close to a transfer to Europe
Canadian defenseman Calvin de Haan, 34, who has played over 700 games in the NHL, is moving to Sweden. According to Expressen, SHL team Brynäs IF is acquiring de Haan.
De Haan played 44 games last season with the Colorado Avalanche, scoring 0+7 points, and at the end of the season, he played three games with the New York Rangers, with 0+1 points.
Originally, de Haan was the 12th overall pick in the first round by the New York Islanders in 2009. In his NHL career, he has played 679 regular season games (24+125=149) and 38 playoff games (1+4), representing the Islanders, Avalanche, and Rangers, as well as the Carolina Hurricanes, Chicago Blackhawks, and Tampa Bay Lightning.
De Haan represented Canada in the 2017 World Championships. The team won a silver medal in the tournament.
