Source: Finnish forward sidelined from Dallas linked to new team – contract close
Finnish forward Samu Tuomaala, who has played in the AHL for the last three seasons, is moving to Sweden for the next season. According to Expressen, Tuomaala is close to signing a contract with Linköping HC.
Tuomaala, 23, was traded last season from the Philadelphia Flyers to the Dallas Stars. He played three games with the Flyers’ AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, and 16 games with the Dallas AHL team, the Texas Stars, recording 2+8=10 points. Tuomaala became a free agent after last season as Dallas did not offer him a contract that would have retained his player rights.
Tuomaala was originally a 2nd round draft pick (#46) by the Flyers in 2021. However, he has not played any NHL games in his career. In the AHL, Tuomaala has played a total of 136 games with 28+57=85 points.
In the Liiga, Tuomaala has played for Kärpät, Sport, and Jukurit.
