Shock news for Edmonton: Leon Draisaitl out for a long time!
The Edmonton Oilers announced on Tuesday some grim news regarding star forward Leon Draisaitl‘s injury.
The German star is suffering from a lower-body injury and, according to the Oilers, will be out for the remainder of the regular season.
The 30-year-old Draisaitl has been in tremendous form again this season. He has recorded 97 points with 35 goals and 62 assists in 65 games and has been one of the most productive players in the entire NHL.
This absence comes at an extremely bad time for Edmonton. The Oilers have 14 regular-season games left, and the two-time Stanley Cup finalists are currently fighting hard for a playoff spot. The team is currently just four points above the playoff line in the West.
Without Draisaitl, the rest of the season threatens to turn into a real battle for survival for the Oilers.
Edmonton will play its final regular-season game on April 17.
