Roope Hintz battled fiercely with Nathan MacKinnon in the NHL – superstar out bloodied
Dallas Stars’ Finnish star Roope Hintz and Colorado Avalanche’s superstar Nathan MacKinnon clashed fiercely in an NHL game played on Wednesday night Finnish time.
The situation began in the second period in Colorado’s defensive zone when a scuffle broke out between Hintz and MacKinnon. The star forwards eventually dropped their gloves and started fighting. The duo exchanged several hard blows before the altercation ended.
MacKinnon took a hit to the face during the fight, which was badly bloodied afterward. The Canadian star had to leave for the locker room to get treated. Both players received five-minute penalties.
There is also a history between Hintz and MacKinnon. Last March, Hintz was injured in a confrontation with MacKinnon, where the latter knocked the Finn to the ice. Hintz, who suffered a lower body injury, had to take a long sick leave and did not play for the rest of the season.
Hintz also made an impact in the game with his performance. He scored Dallas’s 2–3 goal early in the third period.
Colorado managed to maintain its lead until the end and secured a 3–2 victory. Among the Avalanche’s Finns, Artturi Lehkonen got on the scoresheet, while MacKinnon recorded two assists.
