The previous investigation regarding the NHL’s Mike Babcock has taken a new turn, reports journalist Andy Strickland on platform X.

According to Strickland, the investigation related to the former head coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets has also revealed a detail connected to Finnish player Patrik Laine. However, the exact content has not been made public, and it is unclear what kind of situation or connection to Laine might be involved.

Babcock coached the Blue Jackets briefly in 2023, but his tenure ended before the official start of the season in September when he resigned amid controversy.

At that time, allegations were made against him regarding his behavior towards players. One of the allegations that surfaced was that he had asked players to show personal photos stored on their phones.

Babcock has since been without an NHL head coaching position, but his name has recently been linked to potential new coaching roles, such as with the Edmonton Oilers. For this reason, the NHL has continued to investigate the case.

Would think now that the final is wrapped up, we are headed towards a resolution with Babcock and the Oilers. Hearing, among other things, part of the NHL’s investigation includes a situation that involved Patrik Laine.
