The Ottawa Senators announced a surprise news last night. The team traded their captain Brady Tkachuk to the Florida Panthers.
According to NHL reporter Elliotte Friedman, Tkachuk provided Ottawa with a list of four teams he was willing to move to. These teams were the Carolina Hurricanes, Minnesota Wild, Vegas Golden Knights, and of course, the Florida Panthers.
Friedman stated that the trade of Tkachuk began when Ottawa’s GM Steve Staios asked Tkachuk if there was hope for Ottawa to keep him when the forward’s contract expires in two years. The exact response from Tkachuk is not known, but it clearly did not convince Staios.
In his best season, Tkachuk scored 83 points in the NHL. He has surpassed the 60-point milestone only three times.
