The super star Matthew Tkachuk, representing the Florida Panthers in the NHL, tried to get under the skin of Germany’s top star Leon Draisaitl as the teams faced off in the final game of the group stage at the Milano-Cortina Olympics on Sunday evening.

Microphones captured Tkachuk’s harsh jab at Draisaitl regarding his position with the Edmonton Oilers.

– Always a bridesmaid, Leon? Never a bride, Tkachuk mocked, referring to Draisaitl’s status in the shadow of Connor McDavid in Edmonton.

The duo has a longer history in the NHL. Tkachuk has been crushing Draisaitl’s dream of winning the Stanley Cup in the past two seasons as the Panthers eliminated the Oilers in the NHL finals.

Draisaitl also found himself on the losing side on Sunday as the United States decisively defeated Germany 5-1.

– All-time jab, a fan commented on Tkachuk’s taunting on the messaging service X.

The Olympic tournament continues on Tuesday with the quarterfinals. The Lions will be back in action on Wednesday when they face the winner of Tuesday’s Switzerland-Italy match in their own quarterfinal.
