Pistetykki made its choice: moving to the League!
Canadian defenseman Chad Nychuk, 25, moves to HPK on a one-year contract for the Liiga season 2026–2027.
Nychuk arrives in Finland after a strong ECHL season. He represented the Atlanta Gladiators, where he played 66 regular season games with stats of 8+45. In the playoffs, he recorded 1+5 points in six games. In his career, Nychuk has also played 54 AHL games and 145 games in the ECHL.
HPK’s player scout Jukka Voutilainen sees Nychuk bringing versatility to the team’s defense.
– Chad is a puck-moving defenseman who brings reliable two-way play, puck skills, and the ability to make plays on the power play to our team. He is at a good age and we see him as a big part of our defense next season, says Voutilainen.
According to Voutilainen, the club has been following the defenseman for a longer time before the contract was finalized.
– We have been following Chad for a long time and it’s great that he chose us out of all the options. He saw us as a club where he can succeed and take the next step in his career.
