Patrik Laine is in the news with interesting updates from the NHL.

Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Citizen reports that several NHL teams are interested in the Finnish winger. Reportedly, the Toronto Maple Leafs, Florida Panthers, Dallas Stars, and Tampa Bay Lightning are all pursuing Laine.

The 28-year-old Laine is currently an unrestricted free agent. He played last season with the Montreal Canadiens, but injuries hampered his performance and lowered his stock.

The Ottawa Senators have also explored the possibility of acquiring Laine. According to Garrioch, the Senators have been involved in discussions about the Finnish player.

Ottawa has a need for a pure goal scorer on their team. Laine has scored 224 goals in his NHL career and accumulated a total of 422 points in 537 games.

Laine’s single-season goal record is 44 goals. He achieved this number while playing for the Winnipeg Jets during the 2017–18 season.

However, interest from the Senators has not reportedly progressed far. According to Garrioch, there is skepticism in Ottawa about Laine being a suitable fit for the team’s current lineup.
