Patrik Laine alongside NHL superstars – the head coach’s mysterious message raises concerns
Patrik Laine was seen with the first line during the Montreal Canadiens’ practice.
The Finnish forward, recovering from an injury, practiced alongside superstars Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield and alternated in the line with Alexandre Texier.
Despite the practice location, Laine’s return to games should not be expected in the near future, according to Sportsnet . He has progressed in his rehabilitation according to schedule and has been practicing fully, but he has not yet been granted medical clearance.
According to Sportsnet reporter Eric Engels, the Canadiens do not need to rush Laine’s return. The team has been playing strongly without him, scoring plenty of goals and ranking among the best in the NHL on the power play.
Canadiens coach Martin St. Louis commented on what Laine could bring to the lineup.
– His strength is his shot on the power play, and he will certainly bring that to the team, St. Louis stated.
According to Engels, it is noteworthy that St. Louis did not mention any other strengths of Laine.
– The game is so fast nowadays. Most teams can pressure so well that there is no time for a player to slow the game down, St. Louis added, leaving questions about Laine’s role on the team.
The Canadiens will next face the Vegas Golden Knights, but Laine is not expected to play in that game. According to Sportsnet, it will also be difficult for him to get into the lineup for the upcoming games against Colorado, Buffalo, and Minnesota, which are known for their strong forechecking.
