The Detroit Red Wings’ NHL season ended with the regular season. At the same time, veteran forward Patrick Kane’s contract also came to an end.

Kane, 37, has played three seasons in Detroit. This season, he recorded 67 games with points of 16+41=57.

Kane commented that he is willing to continue his career with Detroit next season.

– I am interested in coming back here and continuing my career here. I believe the interest is mutual. This has been a great place for me and my family. I have absolutely enjoyed my time here. But there is no rush – I will discuss things with my agent and my family. We’ll see how it goes, Kane said on Friday at the Red Wings’ season-ending event.

The Red Wings last played in the playoffs in 2016. Kane is eager to lead the team back to the playoffs after a long hiatus.

– I would like to be part of the solution that helps this team get through difficulties. We have a good team and we can win. I think this team is better than some of the teams in the playoffs, Kane noted.

Kane has played a total of 19 seasons in the NHL. He long represented the Chicago Blackhawks, where he won the Stanley Cup three times. Kane also briefly played for the New York Rangers before his move to Detroit.
