One of the toughest free agents in the NHL has found a new team
The New Jersey Devils have strengthened their offense by signing Anthony Mantha to a two-year contract.
The 31-year-old Canadian forward’s contract has an average annual salary of $4.75 million.
Mantha had the most productive NHL season of his career last year with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He surpassed both the 30-goal and 60-point milestones for the first time, finishing with 33 goals and 31 assists for a total of 64 points in 81 regular season games.
The forward’s previous contract was worth $2.5 million per season. He became a free agent on July 1.
Throughout his NHL career, Mantha has also represented the Detroit Red Wings, Washington Capitals, Vegas Golden Knights, and Calgary Flames.
In total, he has played 588 regular season games in the NHL, scoring 179 goals and 188 assists for 367 points. In the playoffs, Mantha has appeared in 20 games and recorded seven assists.
