One lion player receives high praise from Aleksander Barkov: “Sometimes I wasn’t as quick to get involved.”
ZÜRICH.
Captain Aleksander Barkov is leading the Lions’ top line as expected in the World Championships in Switzerland. Alongside him are Teuvo Teräväinen and Sakari Manninen.
His line mates received high praise from Barkov after Thursday’s ice practice. Special mention went to Manninen, who plays in Switzerland’s top league.
– I played with Manen in the Sweden game already and I really liked how he plays. Sometimes I wasn’t as quick to catch his thoughts, as he thinks about the game so well and creates opportunities from situations that not many can do, Barkov praises.
Teräväinen also received strong compliments from the captain.
– He is an exceptionally skilled player who sees the ice very well.
– Those kinds of guys on the wings, who can create plays and turn every situation into scoring chances, you have to be alert in every shift.
The Lions will begin their journey in the World Championships on Friday with a match against Germany. The game starts at 17:20.
