Jesse Puljujärvi is being shown a new NHL contract in North America. Daily Faceoff reporter Steven Ellis highlights the possibility of a return based on the Finnish player’s strong performance in Switzerland.

The Geneve-Servette forward has scored 6+5=11 points in eight games. According to Ellis, NHL teams showed interest last summer, but a contract did not materialize. Puljujärvi’s current contract ends after this season.

Ellis wonders if there would be a role for the Finn in the lower lines of an NHL team.

– It will be interesting to see if any team would consider him in a depth scoring role. He may not be the player that scouts expected him to be, but he gets the job done in a specific role. That could be worth a one-year contract, Ellis writes.

Puljujärvi’s autumn has been on hold so far due to a suspension. He checked Lausanne’s Erik Brännström in the head on September 30, and his return to the ice is scheduled for this week.

Last, Puljujärvi played in the NHL during the 2024–25 season with Pittsburgh and Florida.
