Now Roope Hintz is speaking – this harsh injury ended the season!
Dallas Stars’ Finnish star Roope Hintz has revealed the reason for his long absence from the NHL. Hintz was sidelined for the entire playoff series against the Minnesota Wild.
Hintz suffered from a rarer injury, as he had a strain in two different areas of his hamstring. Hopes for a return were ultimately dashed due to a setback during rehabilitation.
The Finnish forward also confirmed that the injury occurred in March while he was wrestling with Nathan MacKinnon during a game against the Colorado Avalanche. According to Hintz, a return to action would likely have happened in the second round of the playoffs if Dallas had advanced there.
The Stars would have desperately needed Hintz in their lineup during the Wild series. The team managed to score only three goals at even strength over six games.
In the regular season, Hintz played 53 games, recording 15+29=44 points. A long contract keeps him in Dallas until the summer of 2031.
