Washington Capitals power forward Tom Wilson caused a stir in Sunday night’s game against the Vancouver Canucks.
Wilson delivered a brutal hit in the first period on Canucks’ Filip Chytil, who flew through the air and landed on the ice. Chytil injured himself in the incident and was unable to continue the game.
The referees reviewed Wilson’s hit on video, but according to them, nothing illegal was found.
The incident naturally sparked a lot of discussion on social media. Some believe Wilson’s hit was late.
The Canucks lead the game in the second period with a score of 4-0.
