The NBA team Minnesota Timberwolves postponed their basketball game by a day, and many were also expecting the NHL and Minnesota Wild to make some kind of decision, as the Wild was scheduled to face the Florida Panthers in a game that started at 4 PM Finnish time.

Timberwolves announced the NBA’s statement regarding the game postponement. There is unrest in the United States, as federal agents shot a 37-year-old man dead on the streets of Minneapolis. A video of the shooting has spread on social media and shocked people. This is already the second time ICE agents have shot someone dead in Minnesota.

The investigation into the incident is currently ongoing in the United States. The events in Minneapolis have been reported by, among others, Bloomberg.

The game between Minnesota Wild and Florida Panthers was not canceled, even though many expected the NHL to postpone the match. The Panthers won the game 4–3 in overtime, with Brad Marchand scoring the decisive goal. The Finns did not score any points in the game.

The NHL’s and Wild’s decision to play the game has raised eyebrows.

Statements

For example, Sports Illustrated’s NFL reporter Albert Breer commented on social media about ESPN’s NBA reporter Shams Charanian‘s news regarding the Timberwolves’ game postponement.

– I can’t imagine what it would be like if there were an NFL conference final in Minneapolis tomorrow, Breer wrote.

Bleacher Report’s Mike Bartner also reacted to the news on social media.

– Timberwolves postponed their home game against the Golden State Warriors, and at the same time, the Wild’s game against the Panthers is still on schedule, Bartner wrote, adding the hashtags “noted” and “I’m not surprised.”

Former NFL player Ryan Quigley also weighed in.

– I shouldn’t be surprised that Minnesota Wild, one of the most oblivious organizations in an oblivious NHL, is completely ignoring the events in its hometown. But here we are. A cowardly organization.

Also, RMNB hockey blog writer Chris Cerullo wondered why the NHL and Wild did not end up postponing the game.

– Minnesota Wild is playing their game as if nothing has happened. This is the most typical NHL nonsense ever. Completely spineless people.

The Timberwolves postponed their home game tonight vs the Warriors, while the Wild are still scheduled to play vs the Panthers.

(Yes I’m aware the Wild play in St. Paul btw, still like 9 miles away and impacted by all this)
