Now it went badly – harsh news about Nathan MacKinnon
Nathan MacKinnon was injured in the NHL Western Conference finals game, where the Colorado Avalanche lost to the Vegas Golden Knights with a score of 3–5. Vegas now leads the series 3–0.
MacKinnon took a hard shot to his leg in the second period and had to leave the game. He returned in the third period to play a few shifts, but the injury clearly bothered him.
After the game, the Avalanche did not provide an update on his condition.
Colorado started the game strong and quickly took a 3–0 lead. The goals were scored by Gabriel Landeskog, Nazem Kadri, and Jack Drury. After the first period, the Avalanche seemed to be on their way to an easy victory.
However, in the second period, Vegas fought back. Mark Stone narrowed the gap right at the start of the period, William Karlsson scored the next goal, and Keegan Kolesar tied the game.
In the third period, Vegas took the lead with a goal from Tomas Hertl. The final score of 5–3 was capped off by Brett Howden into an empty net.
The Avalanche’s superstar defenseman Cale Makar played in the game but was clearly not at his best yet.
Vegas now has the chance to close out the series in the next game and advance to the Stanley Cup finals.
