Now it’s dark – A setback for Olli Jokinen’s HIFK
The Tampere Cup for HIFK, led by Olli Jokinen, continued with a loss as the Helsinki team succumbed to Ilves on Saturday. The match was decided only in the penalty shootout, which Ilves won 1–0.
HIFK did not score at all during the regular playtime. Ilves also remained scoreless, so the winner was ultimately sought in the penalty shootout.
This loss was already the second consecutive one for HIFK in the Tampere Cup. On Friday, the team lost to JYP with a score of 3–5.
HIFK’s practice matches continue on August 14 in Järvenpää, where they will face Pelicans. The schedule for August also includes matches against KalPa and KooKoo.
The Liiga season 2026–2027 will kick off for HIFK on September 4. In the opening match of the regular season, the Helsinki team will face HPK at home.
