Now it has hit! A huge offer for the NHL’s Swedish star
The Philadelphia Flyers announce that they have made a so-called offer sheet proposal for Anaheim Ducks’ Leo Carlsson.
The Swedish forward is a restricted free agent, so the rights still belong to Anaheim. However, the team now has to respond to the offer in some way.
Flyers state that the offer was for five years and an annual salary of 18 million dollars, which would be the highest cap hit in the NHL at the moment.
If the Flyers were to acquire the player with their offer, they would lose their first-round draft picks for the next four years.
The Anaheim Ducks, owning the rights, can respond to the offer and keep their Swedish star.
However, the Flyers’ offer does not mean that the Ducks must necessarily pay Carlsson 18 million per season going forward. They can negotiate their own contract with Carlsson and keep the player if the center signs a deal with the Ducks.
