Now! Elias Pettersson gained a huge amount of weight over the summer.
Vancouver Canucks star forward Elias Pettersson has spent the summer in the gym after a disappointing season.
– I have gained six kilos over the summer. I feel good. The summer has been long, and I have tried to build more muscle to be myself again. I feel like I can be that again, Pettersson said at an NHL media event.
The 188 cm tall Pettersson weighed around 84 kilos last season, so nowadays the scale shows closer to 90 kilos.
Last season was terrible for Pettersson compared to expectations. The forward, who enjoys a mega salary of 11.6 million dollars, only recorded 45 points (15+30) in 64 games.
In his best season (2022-23), Pettersson scored 102 points in 80 regular season games. Now the skilled forward wants to reach that level again.
– We are trying to be the best possible team. We need to prepare in the best possible way, and I know what we are capable of. I truly believe we will be better this season. That work starts, not today, but when training camp begins, and we are going to do everything we can to be better this year, Pettersson says.
