Now comes size and strength: A forward called up for the World Championship training camp to the League!
The Hämeenlinna Ball Club has signed a contract with Slovak forward Andrej Kukucan. The contract covers the 2026–2027 season and includes the club’s option for the following season 2027–2028.
Kukuca moves to HPK from the Slovakian top league, where he played last season for HC Banska Bystrica. The 190-centimeter right-shooting forward is a physical player who is very mobile for his size.
Last season, he recorded 13+10=23 points in the regular season and 4+1=5 in the playoffs. In the Slovakian top league, Kukuca has played seven seasons totaling 304 games, scoring 68 goals and providing 65 assists, for a total of 133 points.
On the international level, Kukuca has represented Slovakia in 20 A-international matches with a tally of 5+3. He was also part of this spring’s national team training camp for the World Championships.
– We have been looking for a forward like him for a long time, and it’s great that we reached an agreement on the contract, says HPK’s player scout Jukka Voutilainen.
Voutilainen emphasizes that the player brings much-needed physicality and versatility.
– Andrej is a very mobile big forward who brings battling power and the right kind of aggressiveness to our team. He has a heavy shot, and thanks to his handedness, he is a really versatile player.
