Norway’s U20 World Championship bronze team young promise: NHL teams on their heels
The Norwegian forward Petter Vesterheim, 21, who just won bronze at the World Championship, has attracted interest in the NHL, says Vesterheim’s agent Joel Larsson to the Norwegian Nitten.no website.
Vesterheim scored 0+4 points in ten games at the World Championship. The young forward has already played in four World Championships in his career.
At the club level, Vesterheim plays in the SHL for the Malmö Redhawks. Last season, he recorded 4+9=13 points in 51 regular-season games and 1+3 in eight playoff games.
– It’s of course really cool to hear. It gives me energy. We haven’t talked about it much, but it’s inspiring to know that people are watching. The NHL is a big dream, but right now all the focus is on Malmö, Vesterheim commented on the matter to Nitten.no.
Vesterheim has not been drafted into the NHL.
Vesterheim’s current contract with Malmö runs until 2029. Even if an NHL contract were to materialize, agent Larsson states that Vesterheim will still play next season with Malmö in a significant role.
