No continuation in the NHL – Dallas Stars rejected the Finn
Finnish forward Samu Tuomaala will become an unrestricted free agent on Wednesday, as the Dallas Stars did not extend him a qualifying offer for an NHL contract.
The 23-year-old forward has yet to play any NHL games in his career. Last season, Tuomaala played in the AHL for both the Lehigh Valley Phantoms and the Texas Stars. He accumulated a total of 19 regular-season games, scoring two goals and adding eight assists.
Tuomaala has spent the last three seasons in North America within the Philadelphia Flyers organization. He was traded to the Stars mid-season last year.
In Finland, the Kiekko-Laser product has played five games in the Liiga for Kärpät.
As expected, the Dallas Stars made qualifying offers to Mavrik Bourque, Arttu Hyry, and Jason Robertson.
Alongside Tuomaala, several players were left without qualifying offers, including Francesco Arcuri, Vladislav Kolyachonok, Benjamin Kraws, Kyle McDonald, Jeremie Poirier, Antonio Stranges, and Chase Wheatcroft.
