Experienced NHL star goalie Sergei Bobrovsky leaves the Florida Panthers.

The Russian goalie, who has led the team to two Stanley Cup championships, is moving to the Toronto Maple Leafs. The 37-year-old veteran signed a three-year contract on Wednesday, worth a total of 21 million dollars. Bobrovsky will earn seven million dollars per season from the new deal.

Bobrovsky, who has won the Vezina Trophy for the NHL’s best goalie twice, did not shine statistically last season. Bobrovsky had a save percentage of 87.7 in 52 regular-season games and allowed an average of 3.07 goals per game.

Bobrovsky played in Florida for eight seasons and led the team to two consecutive Stanley Cup championships.

With the acquisition of Bobrovsky, Toronto gains one of the most successful goalies in the NHL in recent years, although the veteran’s best years are behind him.

The Panthers, on the other hand, secured Jacob Markström from the New Jersey Devils as Bobrovsky’s replacement on Tuesday.
