NHL traveler: career over – new job found with the Carolina Hurricanes
Canadian goaltender Dustin Tokarski, who has also played in the NHL, has decided to end his playing career at the age of 36. Tokarski’s next job is already known, as the Carolina Hurricanes announces that they have hired Tokarski as a goaltending scout.
Last season, Tokarski played for three different teams in three different leagues. First, he played two games for AHL team Grand Rapids Griffins, then he moved to Germany to Löwen Frankfurt, playing five games, and the rest of the season was spent in Slovenia with HK Olimpija Ljubljana, where he played one regular season game and ten playoff games.
Carolina is a familiar organization for Tokarski. He played six NHL games for the team in the 2024-25 season as well as 21 games for AHL team Chicago Wolves.
Throughout his career, Tokarski frequently changed teams. In addition to Carolina, he represented the Tampa Bay Lightning, Montreal Canadiens, Anaheim Ducks, Buffalo Sabres, and Pittsburgh Penguins in the NHL. In total, Tokarski played 86 regular season games and five playoff games in the NHL.
In the AHL, Tokarski played 446 games and won the championship twice. He also celebrated once as a world champion under 20 years old while wearing Canada’s jersey.
