A situation in the NHL preseason game between the Philadelphia Flyers and the Boston Bruins has sparked heated discussions on social media.

Flyers’ star forward Trevor Zegras received a two-minute penalty for tucking his jersey into his pants. Earlier, the officiating crew had warned the forward about the same issue. The reason for the penalty was “improperly wearing equipment.”

– The first case I’ve seen this preseason, but the league has indicated that it will warn players if equipment – neck guards, visors, helmets – is not worn properly, writes NHL reporter Elliotte Friedman on X.

Fans did not show understanding for the rule change. Zegras’ penalty gathered numerous comments on X.

– This is really stupid, one says.

– NHL, where players are allowed to fight and box, but heaven forbid if you tuck your jersey into your pants. Ridiculous, another laments.

– This is awful. Can someone explain why this is actually important, says a third.
