Ottawa Senators’ superstar Brady Tkachuk has undergone thumb surgery on Thursday and is facing a long recovery, the team reports.
Recovery from the surgery will keep the Senators captain sidelined for the next 6-8 weeks. Tkachuk was injured during Monday’s 1-4 loss against the Nashville Predators.
This setback is massive for the Senators, as the American star, who has recorded 0+3 points in three games this season, is one of the team’s biggest offensive weapons. Tkachuk scored 29 goals and 26 assists for a total of 55 points in 72 regular season games last season. In six playoff games, he tallied 4+3 points.
