The Carolina Hurricanes won the Stanley Cup by defeating the Vegas Golden Knights in the sixth final with a score of 3-0, winning the final series 4-2.
With the championship decided, the most valuable player of the playoffs was also revealed, namely the winner of the Conn Smythe Trophy. This year, the award went to Carolina’s captain Jordan Staal.
At the same time, the 37-year-old Staal became the oldest player in NHL history to win the playoff MVP award. Staal recorded 12 points in 19 playoff games with 8 goals and 4 assists.
Staal recorded 6+1 points in the final series across six games. He scored in the first five final games.
