NHL-GM has put his team up for sale: “I don’t care if we make the playoffs…”
The NHL is facing an interesting situation. Several teams are trading their players, even though they have a chance to fight for a playoff spot. However, teams prefer to invest in their future rather than one spring’s playoffs.
NHL reporter Pierre LeBrun mentioned the St. Louis Blues as an example in the Overdrive podcast. Although the Blues were recently in contention for a playoff spot, GM Doug Armstrong is still actively selling his players to other teams.
– I have heard from several teams, Doug Armstrong has said that it doesn’t matter whether we make the playoffs or not, we wouldn’t beat the Colorado Avalanche in the first round anyway, so I am still listening to all offers for my guys.
Currently, the Blues’ playoff spot does not seem likely. The team is third from the bottom in the Western Conference and six points behind the Los Angeles Kings, who hold the last playoff spot.
