NHL: Finnish trade: Olli Määttä changes teams
NHL reporter Elliotte Friedman reports on X that Olli Määttä has been traded.
The Finnish defenseman is moving from the Calgary Flames to the Minnesota Wild, according to Friedman.
Määttä, 31, is now under contract with the Wild until 2028. He played only 21 games with the Flames after moving to the team mid-season from Utah.
Additionally, forward Blake Coleman is moving from the Flames to the Wild. Defenseman Jake Middleton and draft picks are heading in the opposite direction to Minnesota.
Määttä recorded only one assist in 22 games with the Mammoth last season, but he started to perform well with the Flames. He scored 2 goals and 12 assists in 21 games.
This will be Määttä’s seventh NHL team. Besides Calgary and Utah, he has played in Detroit, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Pittsburgh.

Calgary will retain 50% of Coleman's salary.
