NHL contract extension – Finnish player left without a contract: “No interest at all”
NHL career record scorer last season Joel Kiviranta, 29, is still without a new contract in the NHL.
The winger, who scored 16+7=23 points in 79 regular season games with the Colorado Avalanche, did not receive a new contract from the Avalanche after the season. A month has passed since the opening of the free agent market, and no team has yet found a place for the Finn.
– There is reportedly no interest in him. In August, contracts become even less likely. He will likely receive a tryout contract, and he will have to earn a one-year deal based on his performance in training camp, Sports Illustrated assesses Kiviranta’s situation.
Kiviranta, who has played 298 NHL games in his career with the Dallas Stars and Colorado Avalanche, had an impressive shooting percentage of 19 last season, while his career goal-scoring percentage is 11.
According to SI’s assessment, the season of missed opportunities is now reflected in the interest of teams, as they are believed to doubt Kiviranta’s ability to continue producing at the level seen last season.
