The NHL’s Department of Player Safety has given Anaheim Ducks defenseman Radko Gudas a five-game suspension.
In the previous game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Gudas delivered a strong knee-on-knee hit to Auston Matthews. Matthews was injured as a result of the hit and will be sidelined for the rest of the season.
The lengthy suspension will also hit Gudas’s wallet hard. He will lose $104,166 from his salary due to the suspension.
Known for his tough play, Gudas has recently injured more superstars. In the Olympics, he delivered a heavy hit to Sidney Crosby, who was injured as a result of the contact.
