NHL: a crash happened: over 900 game franchise icon was traded
The Montreal Canadiens concluded one of their eras on Monday by trading their long-time reliable forward Brendan Gallagher to the Vancouver Canucks.
The 34-year-old veteran moves to the Canucks in exchange for a draft pick to be determined later. At the same time, the Canadiens agree to pay half of Gallagher’s annual salary of $6.5 million. The forward has one season left on his current six-year contract.
Gallagher’s role in Montreal clearly diminished during the recently concluded season. The veteran played 77 games in the regular season with stats of 7+16=23 and appeared in only three playoff games, where he scored one goal.
Gallagher has represented the Canadiens throughout his entire 14-year NHL career so far. The long-time forward played a respectable 911 regular season games in Montreal, accumulating stats of 246+241=487.
Vancouver is getting an experienced winger, who is expected to bring leadership, experience, and physicality to the team.
